A member of the Authors Guild, Inc., and the American Academy of Poets, the Savannah, Georgia native Aberjhani is the author of four volumens of poetry, the most recent being ELEMENTAL, The Power of Illuminated Love, which also features more 60 color reproductions of art by Luther E. Vann; and "The Bridge of Silver Wings" (ISBN 0966235606). His first book was the multi-genre anthology, "I Made My Boy Out of Poetry," later followed by "Visions of a Skylark Dressed in Black." He is also a featured performance artist on the spoken word CD, "The Goddess and the Skylark, Dancing Through the Word Labyrinth."
Additional works by the author include the award-winning "Encyclopedia of the Harlem Renaissance," (Facts On File Publishing); "The Wisdom of W.E.B. Du Bois," and the November 2007 novel "Christmas When Music Almost Killed the World."
Among his awards are: the CONNECT SAVANNAH 2006 Readers Poll for Best Poet and Spoken Word Artist; Writing Forum Poet of Month January 2007; the Choice Academic Title Award; the Thomas Jefferson Journalism Award; and increasing critical acclaim for his fiction. The author studied journalism and creative writing at: Savannah State College (now University); Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Fla.; Macalester College in St. Paul, Minn.; Temple University in Philadelphia; and the New College of California in San Francisco. He served his writing apprenticeship as a U.S. Air Force military journalist in Alaska for two years and Great Britain for four years.
