Searing My Heart With a Stone

Knowing that you’re near, my Lord

A tender tear floats through the air,

And all my life I’ve been waiting, too

Yet waiting now, it seems too long,

Where is the hand that caressed me

Alone, at night, in my dreams?

Where is the whispering sound of love

That soothed my soulwhen you were gone?

                                       Passing shadows condensed to song

Yet silence seems to drip out loud,

Through a glass darkly still it spills

Searing my heart with a stone.
