Angel of Friendship’s Enduring Faith

Angel of Friendship’s Enduring Faith

Poem number 8 in the “Songs of the Angelic Gaze” series. –Author-Poet Aberjhani

‘Over and above us there’s then the angel playing.’

–Rainer Maria Rilke, Duino Elegies (No. 4)

I.

The lights of friendship
shapeshift from tears of jade pearl
to hearts of diamond.

This way of being
is a kind of love that seeks
no fear or evil.

Like the soft twinship
of sisters in Texas spinning
faith out of silk words.

This way of being
peers deep inside beginnings to
safeguard their endings.

Like Tiger Lily
blooming scented prophecies
of soul’s song burning.

II.
In a world made of
battlefields, the dreams we live
too often are slain.

My brother’s journey
in part is my own, therefore
I sing it in peace.

The halo of trust
by its nature is fragile –
effort gives it strength.

My sister’s journey
in part is my own, therefore
I sing it with hope.

Blessed be true friends
in our lives – – for with them we
inherit true joy.
