The Great Poets reach us from across the millennia where their verse still evokes powerful and significant responses in the readers of the 21st century. John Keats said of poetry.

" Poetry should be great and unobtrusive,
a thing which enters into one's soul,
and does not startle it or amaze it with itself,
but with its subject. "

Our favourite poets are able to do just this, invoke a higher sense of awareness within ourselves. Their poetic utterances seem beyond the reach of ordinary men and yet we can feel that these classic poems become part of ourselves.

Pass into nothingness; "

The selections here consist of favourites that have been anthologized extensively and are familiar to many people, and also includes less well known works that deserve appreciation.
