I saw a face
I thought I knew
disappear into the crowd.
I saw a face
I knew was me
and then it was gone,
Into a wave of humanity
and they said
I was mad,
But tell me, is it you or me
or have we all
been had?
And maybe when the nights are long
and the soul’s whisperings grow loud
And we know not if it’s light or dark
or if it’s up or down
The faceless face I thought was me
is also you and you
for all faces on the earth reveal
the mark of eternity.
